‘I could never think of what to call my airbnb . . . '
It’s impossible to talk listing titles without first identifying your ideal guest. If you’ve designed your space to be a weekend getaway for skiers coming up from the city, don’t title it ‘Victoria’s Hillside Bungalow’. Your guest doesn’t care about how victorian your house is. They want to know how long it is going to take to get from your back door to the chairlift. That’s it, so tell ‘em!
The technical details. For Airbnb listings, the external title (the one the guest will see) has a maximum of 50 characters. Airbnb will pull in a couple words to describe the listing based on the listing’s parameters, so make sure your title is different than these words to maximize variety. Ex Title: Lakeside Something, and then airbnb will add ‘Lakeside’ right below this. We know it’s lakeside already! Use the short amount of space you have for something else in this case.
Quick tip for hosts with more than one listing. If you click on the title in the Airbnb listing editor, it will give you the option to update the internal name of the listing as well. Set the internal name as a short version of the address. It’s hard to remember what ‘Mountain Top Skier’s Delight’ is referring to when you have a few listings, where as if it says 123 Mountain Drive it’s simple to remember exactly what listing is being referenced. This helps when organizing your listings in your pricing software, for bookkeeping records, etc.
Problem solved.
