‘Do I have to meet my AirBnb guests in person?’
When building out your listing in AirBnb, there is a section where AirBnb is going to ask you for your interaction with guests. In the beginning, when I was still a little wet behind the ears, I used to meet every guest when they arrived at a property. You know what I realized really quickly? People don’t enjoy this! Why not? Well, for starters, renting an AirBnb is all about privacy. People want to go on a trip and not have to bother with the person at the front desk. They want the address, the code to get inside, the directions, and that’s it. When they get inside, their should be a guest packet explaining how to use the house, but that’s for another post.
What we write out exactly. ‘We are local but prefer to communicate through the booking application.’ If the guest booked through Airbnb, let’s keep the communication through the Airbnb app. Vrbo, same deal. Two reasons. First, if anything was to go wrong, AirBnb is going to want to have documented proof of any communication. Second, this keeps your hosting communication within your hosting app. Your assistant that is taking control of communication while you’re at dinner doesn’t have your cell phone. Your dining partner can thank us for the uninterrupted meal.
What we have found is that guests prefer a local host. Ahhhemmmmm contact us below. If the toilet starts to act up or guests need help bringing a kayak down to the water, now that’s what we’re here for and that’s when a guest will appreciate a visit.
As promised, value in under a minute.
